When Express Pizza opened its doors in March of 1989 no one would have predicted the outcome. Father and son stumbled upon the Chickahominy area one day looking to open a pizzeria in Connecticut. Frank, only 18 at that time, wanted to offer the type of food that had been ingrained and enjoyed by his family for decades.
The love of family and the enjoyment of providing the highest quality food have been an integral part of the Greco's business philosophy. In addition to this philosophy, the importance of gaining and maintaining customer trust has been a cornerstone for their success. Frank explains, "our family serving your family." Customers like to know who is preparing their food and they know us we like to make everyone feel at home.
In 2004 Express Pizza expanded into the adjacent space and opened Greco's Bella Cucina Italian Specialty Market with his brother Michael. Frank explains: "We opened the deli to offer more personalized catering and to expand our menu to satisfy a wider variety of customers. We really wanted to be able to offer custom menus that reflect varying trends mixed with age-old family recipes."
With Express Pizza's 20th anniversary in March of 2009, Frank and Michael reflect on the relationships that they have developed with their customers and the community. It seems a long time has passed for the young man with a dream of providing delicious family-style food but the Grecos continue to measure their success by the satisfied faces of customers and tables surrounded with families.
